CIGNAL-Ateneo and AMA Online Education seek to rebound big when the two Aspirants’ Group squads collide in the PBA D-League today at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Both teams are coming off tough defeats, which only mean they are aching to get back on the winning ways in the 12 p.m. clash.
In the Foundation Group, Kib Montalbo will make his debut for a Marinerong Pilipino side eyeing to make it three wins in a row when it meets Wang’s Ballclub at 2 p.m., while Cha Dao-FEU and The Masterpiece Clothing-Trinity University of Asia try to end a two-game losing slide at 4 p.m.
The Blue Eagles are seeking to make up for their tough 112-98 loss to University of Santo Tomas last week, spoiling the PBA D-League debut of Thirdy Ravena.
Cignal-Ateneo allowed the opposition to shoot 43-percent from threes, and Ravena offered no excuses.
“It happens. May instances talaga sa games na marami kaming nagagawang mali na hindi namin naaayos throughout the game. But those lessons really come in basketball, and we have to understand na kailangan namin matuto sa mga nangyayari sa amin, whether it’s good or bad. Ang importante lang matuto kami,” said Ravena.
Ivorian big man Ange Kouame, who missed the last game, is also expected to be back in action for the Eagles, who are gunning for their third win in four games.
But it won’t be easy as the Titans have Joshua Munzon, who is averaging 42 points in his last two games for AMA.
All eyes will be on Montalbo, who will suit up for the Skippers after being released by AMA recently.
Since dropping their opening assignment, the Skippers have won two consecutives games in the Foundation Group with erstwhile collegiate rivals Santi Santillan and Anton Asistio leading the way.
“Yung mga players ng Marinero, ngayon lumalabas yung extra work nila on skills. Ine-expect ko na darating pa yung ganitong mga games,” said coach Yong Garcia.
The Couriers, meanwhile, are looking to rebound after falling to Metropac-SBU, 70-94, last Feb. 28.
