Enter the Diliman Dragons

HERE'S good news to fans and supporters of Diliman College.
The Blue Dragons, who have won several major commercial and collegiate titles in recent years, are taking their acts to where they truly belong -- the PBA D-League.
Diliman College president and former Sen. Nikki Coseteng and head coach Rensy Bajar nnounced the team's entry to the D-League during a press conference-Christmas party at Gerry's Grill along T. Morato in Quezon City last Monday.
Jerome Ngo, a well-known sports patron and a staunch supportet of the Blue Dragons, was also present during the announcement.
“This is a new challenge for the team -- the PBA D-League," said Coseteng during the event also attended by top officials of the Diliman College and players and coaching staff of the team.
Coseteng, daughter of PBA founding president Emerson Coseteng and the league's first female manager of Mariwasa-Noritake-Galerie Dominique franchise, welcomed the opportuniity to be back in the PBA.
“But like most of our tournaments, we do not want to raise any expectations that we will win the championship. But I can assure you that we will put up a competitive team and that our players will always do their best," added Coseteng.
Coseteng said she has full trust and confidence in the system developed by Coach Bajar and which has already brought numerous local and international titles to the Diliman-based team.
“We know that we will be playing against big schools, big teams in the PBA D-League. But we will just continue to do what we are doing right now,” added Coseteng.
Bajar, for his part, expressed confidence that the team will continue to do well even against more-established collegiate teams.
The former PBA player-turned-coach said Diliman will field a purely school-based team in the D-League since “we want to give all our players the necessary exposure playing against their more-experoenced opponents.”
“I have faith in my players. I know what they can do and I know the personal sacrifices they have made for the good of the team. That's why we have our motto #TeamFirstBeforeMyself," added Bajar.
Meanwhile, Ngo reiterated Gerry's Grill support to Diliman, adding the partnership has already produced multiple champiobships in the MBL, UCBL, Fr. Martin's Cup and even in the UiTM tournament in Malaysia.
“Gerry's Grill is always ready to support a proven winner like Diliman College. In fact, we are ready to support sports, not only basketball,” added Ngo.
Also supporting the team are Diliman Executive Vice President Perry Coseteng, VPs Dr. Evelyn Sadsad, Emelita Bernabe, Prof. Wendel de los Reyes, Dr. Carolina Duka, Dr. Sheribel Villasin and Engr. Eduardo Nadurata.
