LETRAN, the reigning NCAA men's basketball champions, is in need of players to be part of its bid for a back-to-back title romp in the Season 83 wars.
Coach Bonnie Tan said the Knights tryout schedule will be announced once the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine is lifted.
Last Tuesday, Tan posted on his social media pages an announcement for student-athletes and agents, asking them to email their profile, contact details, and, if possible, videos to firstname.lastname@example.org or to Facebook page Do Not Fear Only Believe.
“We still have a lot of holes to fill. Some players are still recovering while some just finished their commitments in the MPBL," said Tan, who is also NorthPort’s team manager in the PBA.
“That is why we are still open to adding more players since no one is a lock in our lineup yet. I guarantee that the new recruits will be treated the same as our holdovers,” he added.
Letran's pre-NCAA build-up has not been ideal owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic just like every team in the country now.
Aside from having their trip to Japan cancelled, a reward for winning the NCAA Season 95 championship, the Knights' D-League campaign has abruptly stopped as the PBA suspended the tournament due to the public health emergency.
NCAA hopes to open the Season 83 basketball competitions in August.
Letran's men's basketball team and its coaching staff, meanwhile, recently donated cash for the athletes, cheerleaders, guards, and workers who were stranded in the school due to the lockdown.
