LETRAN ended a two-year Final Four drought with a wire-to-wire 79-61 victory over San Sebastian yesterday in the NCAA men's basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Making past the eliminations for the first time since their improbable 2015 championship run under then coach Aldin Ayo, the Knights are not just contented of claiming a spot in the next round.

“Siyempre thankful kami na umabot kami sa ganitong sitwasyon,” said coach Jeff Napa, who is on his third season with Letran.

“Pero hindi naman ito ang gusto naming mangyari. Meron pa kaming last two games na dapat trabahuin before we look forward sa Final Four."

Later, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta subdued Emilio Aguinaldo College, 81-67, to assure itself of a playoff for the remaining semifinals berth.

Sporting a  third-best 12-4 card, the Knights actually still have a chance of claiming one of the two twice-to-beat slots in the Final Four via playoff.

Letran is just two games behind idle Lyceum of the Philippines University (14-2).

“Yung tadhana na ang magsasabi kung aabot kami o hindi. Pero hindi na namin iniisip yun,” said Napa.

With a five-game winning streak, the Knights are looking good in their bid to raise championship banner No. 18 if they continue to sustain the level of play.
