
Metro-League titles at stake

IT will be Valenzuela against Caloocan in the North and Taguig versus San Juan in the South in a pair of division championships in the 2018 Metro League Open basketball tournament at the Tanada Homeowners Association gym in Valenzuela City.
Game time is 5 p.m. with the victors of the two knockout games winning the titles in their respective divisions while advancing to the best-of-three Metro championships of the tournament organized by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and supported by the Philippine Basketball Association.
Valenzuela defeated Quezon City, 111-102, while Caloocan outsteadied Manila, 116-102, to arrange a title showdown in the North; while Taguig downed Parañaque, 84-78, and San Juan humbled Pateros, 78-76, to set up final match in the South.
MJ Enriquez and Kristoffer Torrado provided the 1-2 punch for Caloocan, which finished No. 4 seed and needed to beat top seed Manila twice to advance to the finals.
Enriquez finished with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists and Torrado added 24 points, eight assists, and five rebounds for the Supremos of Mayor Oca Malapitan and Rensy Bajar.
Equally impressive was Solid San Juan-Big Chill, which slammed the door on Pateros.
Joshua Saret topscored with 21 points for San Juan, which raced to an early double-digit and never looked back to frustrate Pateros.
