MMTL-Tanduay caging slated

THE best and the brightest alumni players from Metro Manila Tiong Lian teams are expected to see action in the first MMTL-Tanduay Athletics alumni basketball championships scheduled to start Nov. 11 at the Xavier School gym in San Juan.

A total of 11 top teams have already confirmed  their  participation in the tournament,  which will be divided into two divisions -- 40 years old  and above and 50 years old and above.

“We are looking forward to a successful launching in November with nine teams taking part in the 40-above  category and seven teams joining in the 50-above class,” said  MMTL alumni  project director Christian Tan during the organizational meeting at the Taipan Room of the Century Park Hotel in Manila last Sept. 11.

Also present during  the meeting  attended by representatives of participating teams are Lucio “Bong” Tan of  major sponsor Tanduay Athletics, MMTL  alumni  operations head Johny Tam, MMTL 40-above commissioner  Horacio Lim and 50-above commissioner Roger Sia.

The participating teams and their representatives are Chiang Kai Shek College (Henry Ang),  St.Peter School (Johnny Tan), St. Stephen High School (Martin Nocom), Uno High School (Remski Ngo), St. Jude High School (War Chua, Constantine Chua), Westminster (Antonio Balleta), Grace Christian College (Dexter Quan), Jubilee Christian (Jonathan Kwong) and Xavier (Brian Chua, Jean Alabanza)

Also participating are Philippine Cultural College and Tiong Se High School.

Based on early registration,  the teams competing are:

Nine teams in 40-above --Chiang Kai Shek College,  St. Jude High School, Phiippine Cultural College, Grace Christian, Uno High School, Jubilee Christian, St.Peter School, St. Stephen and Xavier.

Seven teams in 50-above -- Chiang Kai Shek College, St. Jude High School, Philippine Cultural College, Grace Christian, Uno High School, Westminster and Tiong Se.

The last day of confirmation to participate is  Sept.18 and submission of line-up is Oct. 5
