RAIN or Shine is keeping Ed Daquioag to its youth-laden line-up.
Daquiaog signed a three-year extension with Rain or Shine in the presence of team manager and board of governor Atty. Mamerto Mondragon just before the holiday season.
The 27-year-old pride of Dingras, Ilocos Norte, who also played for the Benedictine International School and University of Santo Tomas, was acquired by Rain or Shine in a one-on-one trade with Meralco for fellow Gilas Pilipinas cadet Mike Tolomia last Aug. 7, 2017.
Daquiaog, who was recruited by then UST coach Pido Jarencio and assistant coach Beaujing Acot while playing for the Ilocos Norte College of Arts and Trades in the Ilocos Regional Athletic Association (IRAA), averaged 5.7 points, 1.2 assists, and 1.8 rebounds for Meralco in the eliminations during his first two conferences last year.
The Elasto Painters also came to terms with Norbert Torres.
Terms of the deal however, were not made available.
Daquioag and Torres will give the Elasto Painters a stock of young players to complement their veteran core of Gabe Norwood, Beau Belga, Raymond Almazan, Jewel Ponferada, two-time league MVP James Yap and Chris Tiu, should he decide to play one more conference in the coming PBA Philippine Cup.
