THE coming PBA D-League will be the main dish in the 9th "Usapang Sports" by the Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) on Thursday, Feb. 7 at the National Press Club in Intramuros.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial will talk about the latest developments in the PBA D-League, which opens its new season on St. Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
PBA Deputy Director Eric Castro will also discuss the groupings of the 20 participating teams, as well as the format and other innovations aimed at making the league as exciting as possible.
Joining Marcial and Castro are coaches Bonnie Tan (Petron-Letran), Frankie Lim (Perpetual Help), Rensy Bajar (Diliman College-Gerry's Grill), Yong Garcia (Marinerong Pilipino), Jino Manansala (St. Clare-Virtual Reality), Mark Herrera (AMA University) and Alvin Grey (Trinity University-The Masterpiece).
The 10 a.m. session is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), led by chairman William “Butch” Ramirez and National Press Club (NPC), headed by president Rolando “Lakay” Gonzalo.
Kamuning Bakery also supports the event.
TOPS, which is headed by People’s Tonight sports editor Ed Andaya, is composed of editors, reporters, columnists and photographers of the country’s leading tabloids.
