ALDIN Ayo is looking forward to a game against his alma mater as University of Santo Tomas takes on Petron-Letran today in the PBA D-League at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The Growling Tigers put their immaculate record on the line against the Knights, whom Ayo steered to an NCAA crown in 2015, in the 12 noon match.
“Kilala ko itong Letran. Malakas na team din sila kaya kailangan talaga namin silang paghandaan,” said the Sorsogon-born mentor.
UST is coming off a three-week break after dispatching Go for Gold-CSB, 94-82 last March 19, and Ayo has done nothing but to keep his wards sharp during that extended lay-off.
The Tigers are unscathed in four games in the Aspirants’ Group, as rookie sensation Mark Nonoy, along with fellow newcomers Rhenz Abando and Beninese forward Soulemane Chabi Yo are living up to their lofty billing.
UST is the league’s top offensive team as the Growling Tigers, score an eye-popping 103.25 points per game.
The Knights, on the other hand, are seeking to bounce back after getting manhandled by Cignal-Ateneo, 64-83, last Thursday.
Coach Bonnie Tan wants to see a lot more grit from his wards led by Alvin Pasaol, Jerrick Balanza, and Larry Muyang, as Petron-Letran aims to improve its 3-2 card.
Meanwhile, a pair of Foundation Group clashes will take place in the day’s other games as the league’s top defensive team in Metropac-SBU (4-1) goes up against luckless SMDC-NU (0-4) at 2 p.m., while skidding teams Cha Dao-FEU (2-3) and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (1-3) cross paths at 4 p.m.
