Ateneo booters favored

TABLE-TOPPING Ateneo seeks to extend its winning streak to three matches as it clashes with National University today in the UAAP men's football tournament at the FEU-Diliman pitch.

The Blue Eagles and the Bulldogs collide in the last match at 3:30 p.m.

In other fixtures, University of Santo Tomas and defending champion University of the Philippines collide at 1:30 p.m., while La Salle tries to arrest a two-match slide against Adamson at 9 a.m.

Behind league leading goalscorer Jarvey Gayoso, Ateneo sits in first place with 19 points, one off second-running Far Eastern University.

The Eagles are coming off an impressive 3-1 win over the Green Archers last Thursday, as coach JP Merida’s side overcame an early one-goal deficit to prevail.

NU has been struggling as of late to remain outside the top four range.

After two consecutive draws, the Bulldogs  suffered a 1-2 defeat from the hands of the Tamaraws last Thursday.

The Growling Tigers, who have 17 points, hope to solidify their hold of the No. 3 slot, while the Fighting  Maroons go for their third straight win to stay in fourth place.

UP is actually level with La Salle with 13 points, but the Diliman-based  squad is ahead via goals.
