Casugay to recall SEA Games heroism

SURFING star Roger Casugay  will be one of the special guests in the 8th “Usapang Sports on Air” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine  Sports (TOPS) via Zoom on Thursday.

Casugay, who became the first Filipino to be conferred of the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin "Act of Fair Play Award" for his act of heroism and kindness during the 30th SEA Games in Manila last year, will talk about his heroism during the 10 a.m. public service program sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Casugay was honored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC)  for his heroics after helping his Indonesian rival Arip Nurhidiyat  during the race in La Union last December.

Also invited to join the forum are the gold-medal winning pair of Sean Aranar and Anna Luala of the Dance Sports Council of the Philippines (DSCP) and Oliver Gan, consultant for golf of the  Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

Aranar and Luala will share their experiences in dance sports, while Gan will discuss professional golf under the GAB.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members to join the session.

Veteran sportscaster Ernest Leo Hernandez is the moderator.

TOPS is composed of editors, reporters and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids.

TOPS “Usapang Sports” started to turn to a new platform only last July 2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
