MUNOZ -- The 2018 Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) North Young Birds and Old Birds Series finally kicked off last Oct. 14 with Joel de los Reyes and Jaime “Jimi” Lim sharing top honors.
De los Reyes and PHA-18-1803435 dominated the Young Birds category, taking first place with a speed of 1,160.352 meter per minute.
Rudy Medina and Kerby Chua finished second and third, respectively.
Medina and PHA-18-1802348 took runner-up honor with a speed of 1,155.970 meter per minute, while Chua and PHA-18-1803036 -- a blue check hen out of Rudi X De Saer X Sister Gust bloodline -- settled for third place with a speed of 1,155.935 meter per minute.
Also making it to the Top 10 are Joel De los Reyes, fourth place; Victor Tan, fifth; Rodolfo Ramos, sixth; Victor Tan, seventh; Rey So, eighth; Ferdinand Chua, ninth; and Rodolfo Ramos, 10 th.
PHA president Jaime “Jimi” Lim and PHA-18-2811304 – a grizzle cock out of Jos Thone-Gouden Grijs bloodline – made a speed of 1,164.492 meter per minute to emerge as the top Old Bird entry.
Benito Go Que and PHA-18-2805013 – a blue check hen out of Jan Aarden (Opal)/153B X 222B Old Line origin – came in second with a speed of 1,151.294 meter per minute.
Paquito Ngo and PHA-16-1600610 – a blue bar hen out of Van den Broucke Line – wound up third with a speed of 1,151.000 meter per minute.
The other top Old Birds finishers are Benito Go Que, fourth place; Jaime “Jimi’ Lim, fifth; Jaime “Jimi” Lim, sixth; Victor Tan, seventh; Victor Tan, eighth; Teddy and Bibboy, ninth; and Allan Luna, 10th.
PHA Racing Chairman Nelson Chua said a total of 870 birds out of 1,633 birds from 82 lofts were clocked in the Young Birds category; and 211 birds out of 372 birds from 43 lofts were clocked in the Old Birds class.
The birds were released at about 6:15 a.m. last Oct. 14 for an approximately total distance of 300 kilometers.
