The road to Tokyo Olympics has begun for Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Jamie Lim and Joane Orbon.
A daughter of PBA legend Samboy Lim, the 23-year old Lim made another sampling of her prowess in the sport where she created a big name for herself at home during the last Manila Southeast Asian Games in December as she ruled the women’s individual -68 kg. category in the UKF Premier League Kharkiv Open 2020 over the weekend.
On the other hand, Orbon topped the women’s individual -61 kg. class in the high-level event held at the Sports Palace “Lokomotyv” in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The victories by Lim and Orbon bolstered their respective bids to make the Tokyo Olympics, thanks to the points they garnered in the two-day event.
It was Lim’s first competition since beating Indonesia’s Ceyco Zefanya in the SEA Games women’s individual +61 kg. kumite final last December.
Orbon, who switched from the US Karate Federation to the Philippines, settled for the women’s -61 kg. bronze in her first stint for the national team.
