THE 23rd Metropolitan Association of Race Horse Owners (MARHO) Breeder's Championship hit record sales of P46 million with top horse owner Hermie Esguerra dominating with impressive victories in the San Miguel Beer Classic and 2YO Juvenile Colts at the Saddle & Clubs Leisure Park Racetrack in Naic, Cavite.
The Esguerra-owned Salt and Pepper ruled the 23rd Breeders Championship -San Miguel Beer Classic Division, while Huckleberry topped the 2YO Juvenile Colts to share top honors during the prestigious, two-day racing extravaganza.
Ridden by jockey JB Hernandez, Salt and Pepper clocked 2:06.2 to beat Lucky Toni and Kanlaon in the long and gruelling 2000-meter race.

Another Esguerra-owned entry, Speedmatic, finished second to Ava’s Dream of owner Albert Dechavez and jockey JP Guce in the 3YO event.
Ava's Dream timed 1:40.4 over a distance of 1600m. Shadow of the Sun came in third.
Completing the winners in the four-part MARHO-spondord races is Lakan of owner Mar Tirona and jockey RM Garcia
Lakan clocked 57.6 for a diistance of 1000m to win the event over second placer Son Also Rises and third placer Eugene Onegin.
“This year’s MARHO Racing Festival is another milestone for all of us,” said Dechavez, who hopes to continue the good work of past MARHO presidents Mayor Sandy Javier, Mayor Benhur Abalos, Putch Puyat, Eric Tagle and Tony de Ubago.
