
PHA Sta. Maria leg to Ambrosio, Tan

STA. MARIA -- Jeg Ambrosio topped the Young Birds category and Henry Tan dominated the Old Birds class in the second leg of the 2018 Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) North Young Birds and Old Birds Series last Oct. 21.
Ambrosio and PHA -18-1802088 -- a grizzle cock out of Geoff Cooper X Royalty Line of Manny Go bloodline -- made a speed of 1,206.370 meter per minute to clinch top spot in the Young Birds category.
Benito Go Que and PHA-18-1801785 – a blue bar hen out of Leo Heremans X 326B Old Line origin – took second place with a speed of 1,197.534 meter per minute, while Rey So and PHA-18-1800515 – a blue bar cock out of R. Florizoone X P. Van de Merwe – earned third place with a speed of 1,190.661 meter per minute.
Also making it to the Top 10 are Edgar Allan Gino Gino, fourth place; Benito Go Que, fifth; De los Reyes Brothers, sixth; Nixon Sy, seventh; Allan Luna, eighth; Joseph Yap, ninth; and Emilio Romero, 10 th.
In the Old Birds class, Tan and PHA-18-2832206 – a blue bar hen out of Van den Broucke X Vyverman – made a speed of 1,181.039 meter per minute to clinch first place.
Paul Ung and PHA president and first leg champion Jaime “Jimi” Lim came in second and third places, respectively.
Ung and PHA-18-2832651 – a blue bar hen out of Verschoot X Peesoons origin – grabbed second place with a speed of 1,177.876 meter per minute.
Lim and PHA-18-2811304 – a grizzle cock out of Jos Thone-Gouden Grijs bloodline — bagged third place with a speed of 1,137.640 meter per minute.
Joining them in the podium are Joel de los Reyes, Diaz and Galang Loft, Arnold Slavador, Paul Ung, Paul Ung, Paul Ung and Jaime “Jimi” Lim.
PHA Racing Chairman Nelson Chua said a total of 746 birds out of 1,265 birds from 82 lofts were clocked in the Young Birds category; and 162 birds out of 294 birds from 43 lofts were clocked in the Old Birds class.
The birds were released at about 7:20 a.m. last Oct. 21 for an approximately total distance of 350 kilometers.
Last Oct. 14, Joel de los Reyes and Jaime “Jimi” Lim shared top honors in the first leg in Munoz. De los Reyes and PHA-18-1803435 dominated the Young Birds category, taking first place with a speed of 1,160.352 meter per minute.
Lim and PHA-18-2811304 – a grizzle cock out of Jos Thone-Gouden Grijs bloodline – made a speed of 1,164.492 meter per minute to emerge as the top Old Bird entry.
