
Sta. Cruz stakes lead vs Pakil

THE Cong. Benjie Agarao Cup-Laguna 4th District Inter-Town basketball tournament resumes today (Jan. 12) with three action-packed games at the Palaruang Agarao in Magdapio, Pagsanjan.
Group A frontrunner Sta. Cruz guns for its fourth straight win when it takes on dangerous Pakil in the second game starting at 4:3-0 p.m. today.
Pakil is 1-2 overall in a tie for fourth to sixth places with Pagsanjan and Magdalena.
Pila, 2-1, battles Pagsanjan, 1-2, in the third game at 6 p.m., while Siniloan, 2-1, meets Majayjay, 0-2, in the curtainraiser at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, Jan. 13, it will be Pangil against Paete at 2 p.m., Lumban against Luisiana at 3:30 p.m., Kalayaan against Cavinti at 5 p.m. and Mabitac against Famy at 6:30 p.m. also at the same Palaruang Agarao venue.
Luisiana leads the Group V standings with 3-0 win-loss record before the league took a break during the long Christmas season.
Famy, Paete and Lumban share second to fourth places in the overall standings with similar 2-1 slates, followed by Cavinti with 1-2 mark and Mabitac and Kalayaan with 1-2 records.
Majayjay and Pangil are theonly winless teams after two matches.
Meanwhile, Cong. Agarao appointed BAP regional director Leonardo “Ding” Andres as commissioner of tournament .
Andres’ appointment was witnessed b y Ms. Jam Agarao and tournament director-coach Johnny Tam.
