CREAMLINE avenged its opening day loss to PetroGazz with a 25-11, 25-13, 25-23 win to move closer in clinching the No. 1 semifinals ranking in the PVL Open Conference Wednesday at the Batangas City Sports Center.
The Cool Smasgers got off to a dominant start, claiming double-digits early in each of the first two sets and thwarted off a huge Angels fightback in the third to chalk up their 10th win in 13 matches.
A Final Four showdown with PetroGazz will take place if Creamline, which is actually tied with idle BanKo-Perlas in first place but is ahead on points, prevails over winless Adamson-Akari in the final day of preliminaries on Saturday in Batangas City.
The Angles closed their elimination round campaign with a 8-6 record in fourth place.
Captain Alyssa Valdez emphasized the need to for the Cool Smashers to remain consistent, despite already having secured a semis seat.
“For us, siguro we just want to keep improving pa every game and working hard for each win. We know naman na each game, we need to keep bringing our best,” said Valdez, who had another solid all-around outing with 11 points, 10 digs and nine receptions.
“That’s still going to be the goal heading into our last game para maprepare kami sa semis na din.”
Risa Sato also had 11 markers, including three blocks while Michele Gumabao finished with 10 hits, including two service aces for Creamline.
Cherry Rose Nunag topscored PetroGazz with 10 markers.
