FROM Los Angeles to La Salle.
The Lady Spikers pulled off a huge recruitment coup, as Eagle Rock High standout
Jade Fuentes yesterday received a full scholarship to play volleyball for the 11-time UAAP champions.
"So stoked and incredibly blessed to be able to announce that I will be joining the La Salle family in the Philippines. Go Archers," said Fuentes in her Instagram account.
A member of Eagle Rock squad that defeated 30-time city champion Palisades in the CIF LACS Open Division Championship for its third girls volleyball title in program history last November,
Fuentes was named the MVP of the tournament.
La Salle has won the recruitment war over Season 81 champion Ateneo, which was also pursuing the 5-foot-11 Fuentes, who has a mix of Filipino, Irish, Mexican and German.
The Lady Spikers defeated the Lady Eagles in their only Season 82 match last month before the league canceled the rest of the competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the lockdown, La Salle was successful in claiming Fuentes to boost its outside spiker position.
Coach Ramil de Jesus can utilize Fuentes to join forces with Jolina dela Cruz, which will make the Lady Spikers' offense more solid in the coming years to come.
La Salle, which missed the Finals last year that ended a three-year reign, had eight newcomers in the aborted season led by middle blocker Thea Gagate, opposite hitter Leila Cruz and libero Justin Jazareno.
