SETTER Deanna Wong is still uncertain if she will return to Ateneo for her final year in the UAAP women's volleyball tournament.
“As of now, I really have no idea like it’s not on my mind yet. Kasi ‘yung iniisip ko is to go back to my playing form, lalo na galing ako from an injury, so that’s what I’m thinking,” said Wong during a recent "Volleyball DNA" vodcast.
The 22-year-old playmaker suffered a stress fracture in the shin of her right leg, causing her to miss the entire PVL Collegiate Conference last year.
Looking to regain her old form, Wong opted to skip the UAAP Season 82 — which was eventually cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic — to focus on her recovery.
Jaja Maraguinot and Jamie Lavitoria filled in for Wong in the abbreviated season.
Wong, who will suit up for Choco Mucho in the next PVL conference, is not closing the doors for a return in Season 83 and help the Lady Eagles remain in the throne.
“Pero if time will… Ano na, maglalaro ako puwede naman," said Wong.
“Pero ayun, there are also other reasons to consider naman siguro before deciding, so ayun. Hopefully, I’ll be able to make the right decision naman. Pero as of now, wala pa namang commitment or what,” she added.
Aside from a UAAP championship to go with three Finals appearances, Wong has won a Best Setter award.
