ASIAN Youth 18-under champion IM John Marvin Miciano subdued FM G. M. H.Thilakarathne of Sri Lanka while WFM Allaney Jia Doroy whipped WCM Eylul Celik of Turkey in the Philippines’ day of triumph in the 2018 FIDE World Juniors and Girls 20-under chess championships at the Ramada Plaza Airport Hotel in Gebze, Turkey.

Miciano, who is hoping to make a dent in the second half of the 11-round tournament, tried but failed to gain the initiative against his lower-rated Hungarian opponent and agreed to split the point after 46 moves.
